Rattan wrapped tight around the neck, then loosened into loops that flare outward like the rooflines of a pagoda. Below, handshaped glass — clear at the base, warm and coloured as it rises. Two entirely different crafts, two entirely different hands, one object.
The Pagoda Vessel is woven by hand, which means the pattern is never mechanical. The glass is mouth-blown, which means the form is never identical. Put together, they make something that couldn't have been made any other way.
