Craft speaks to the soul

Crafts speaks to the soul, like no other material substance outside of nature . A tree can feel alive and breathing , a flower moves with the sun, tilting its head and showing us its live energy.

Once harvested and transformed , a tree becomes timber and looses some of its living qualities . Yet crafted and shaped by the human hand , composed and arranged with other crafted raw materials , the living energy is captured and shows itself in a new quality. Crafts, essentially , is the skill to keep an inanimate material alive and enhance its qualities .

When juxtaposed together, the raw qualities of each material highlight those of the other.

Glass, essentially a liquid frozen in time.

Wood, the growth of a tree preserved in its dry state.

Metal, revealed and polished to show its durable and smooth surface.

Ceramic, the clay from the ground dehydrated into a porous and strong ceramic.
