Material deceptions

Exploring the properties of paper, concrete, brass and wood.

With curiosity for deception and surprise, Pia is using these materials in a reverse application.
Paper becomes a solid material, bringing out form and colour from thin sheets. Concrete becomes a soft surface or satin soft pillow, with rock like paper resting on it.
Playful in its aesthetics, the pieces created have beautiful tactile qualities.

In her design practic, Pia is interested in exploring the crafts and materials of contemporary culture. Just as a carpenter was born from the availability of wood in Northern Europe, or a potter from the availability of clay in the ground in India, she is interested in how humans respond to the available materials around them in world or surplus and waste materialism.
