Mould blowing

Large pieces like our Valo are mould blown by a team of glass blowers. For this a large bubble of hot glass is gathered on an iron pipe, heated and put inside a wooden mould

Shape giving

The bubble is filled with air by the glass blower blowing into the pipe whiles constantly rotating it between his hands. It fills out the mould and takes on its new shape.
The piece needs to be blown and turned for some time, to allow the glass to be cool enough to keep its shape.
