Created by rolling and gluing sheets of paper and carefully finished in the wood workshop, this innovative material highlights the intricate beauty of each individual layer.

Processed Paper was developed by Pia Wüstenberg during her studies at the Royal College of Art, London and can be applied to furniture, lighting, and sculptural objects—bringing texture and depth to contemporary design.

Our Paper Totems collection features elegant stacks of paper pebbles, threaded onto a slender brass rod and anchored by a solid concrete base. These sculptural pieces offer a striking interplay of materials and form, perfect for collectors and lovers of unique, artisan-made objects.

Processed Paper was created in 2010.
Paper Totems are designed in 2022.

Processed Paper

Sheets of paper are rolled with glue to make a solid paper roll.
This is a laborious process done by hand and with great care.

Processing

The resulting rolls can be cut on a lathe or sanded on a sanding disc. The material is similar to wood.

patterns

Each layer that is revealed creates a line. On printed paper there are two lines, the line of the paper and the line of the print - the results are always unpredictable.
