Bloom
handblown glass, Czechia/ hand turned wood, germany
The Bloom Stacking Vessel is a testament to the harmonious blend of craftsmanship and design. Its bulbous handblown glass body, crafted in Czechia, transitions into a slender neck, showcasing the fluidity and precision of traditional glassmaking techniques. Topped with a hand-turned smoked Acacia wood bowl from Germany, the piece achieves a seamless flow between the materials, creating a balanced and sculptural form.
True to Utopia & Utility's philosophy, the Bloom Stacking Vessel is not just a decorative object but a functional sculpture. It can be disassembled into a glass vase with a slender neck and a wooden bowl, offering both versatility and timeless elegance.
Designed and prototyped in 2015.

Dimensions are approximate, due to the handmade nature of the materials.
The materials come to our warehouse in Germany where they are fitted and assembled.
Bulbous glass
Every shape starts with a bubble. The glass is centred and material built in layers to the desired thickness.
Neck Line
Our Bloom has a bulbous body with a slim elegant neck. For this all the glass material needs to be shifted into the body and the neck portion stretched to fit the mould.
Finishing
Once the piece comes from the mould the fine neck is cool and the base, with all the material thickness is still glowing heat. At this point the base is flattened to ensure the vase can stand.
