Mould

Our Matisse collection is blown into a wooden mould in Czechia. The moulds are kept wet, so that the hot glass creates a fine layer of fumes within the mould, ensuring the glossy smooth surface on the glass

Mould blowing

For mould blowing a minimum of two people are required. One to gather and blow the glass and another to open and close the mould.

Once the piece comes out of the mould, it is picked up with a fork and put into a cooling oven.
